I made myself a cup of Matcha Ice Latte

Happy Saturday people!

It's been such a long and busy week that I felt I did nothing much for myself this week. I have been reading a lot that's for sure but in terms of other outsource of creativity, I have been lacking in that part of my life. However, my bamboo whisk finally arrive after a month (Cause of CNY Holidays and it was shipped from China) and I was pretty excited to try out the Matcha powder that I got last Christmas. Yes, it took me 3 months to make a proper matcha drink. *sob sob*

Disclaimer : Please try at your own risk if you are interested in making a glass for yourself. I have weird taste buds I supposed.

Things needed :

  • 2 teaspoon or 2 bamboo teaspoon (I added more though some may like it with just 1 teaspoon) from Niko Neko Matcha
  • As much milk that fits into your cup (75% would be good enough) and you may either choose soy/almond/etc
  • Sugar (Optional)
  • Hot water but not boiling water so let it cool a little
  • Bamboo whisk (I figured you can use the small milk whisk too)
  • Ice cubes
  • A wide bowl
  • A nice glass

What do you need to do?

  1. Heat up your bamboo whisk a little to remove whatever taste that may impact your tea (Skip this if you don't mind)
  2. Pour your matcha powder into the bowl and pour some hot water into it and whisk away! Whisk it in a 'W' shape to dissolve the lumps
  3. Once it has some foam on the top, that's good to go.
  4. Put your ice into your fancy glass and pour the milk till it's almost at the top
  5. Pour in your green tea and viola! You got yourself a pretty color of Matcha Ice Latte
  6. You can put in sugar with it but I'm not a fan so just milk and matcha is good enough for me
  7. Mix it up and you got yourself a refreshing drink for the evening

I made a mess at the end on my kitchen counter but ah well - messy Eunice makes it all good!

How does it taste?

Hmm - I'm not a huge lover of matcha but I do enjoy green tea especially when the flavor is strong. I'm not sure if it was the powder changing flavors or is it just me but I think I may add more in future cause the milk taste is kinda overpowering the matcha flavor in this drink.

If you do have some ideas to improve this drink, share it with me please!
